On Monday, August 7th, 2006, Katelyn Ella Spear finally arrived into the world with the announcement from the doctor of "It's a Girl Baby!"
After almost 14 hours of labor, she had not progressed enough so a C-section was required. Looking back on it, I am glad she was delivered that way because she was so big, I don't think she would have fit the normal way. I spent 4 nights in the hospital recouping. Fortunately, they allowed Jeremy to stay with me the entire time. It felt like we were there for at least a month :P He was a tremendous help to me, and still is. I owe him many thanks and could not have gotten through any of it without him.
She weighed in at 8lbs 14ozs, was 21 inches long, 14.5" head and a beautiful heart shaped birthmark on her left cheek, just under her eye. :) She is perfect!
Peter and Virginia, (Jeremy's Parents) as well as our friends Joe and Denise were at the hospital with us through most of the labor and for the delivery. Its was so great to have them there for support and we really appreciate all they did for us in that week while we were at the hospital as well.
We are all at home now, getting to know each other and not sleeping. ;) It is so amazing to finally have her in our lives. Words just cannot describe how we feel right now.
