8 Months Update

Katelyn is becoming more and more indipendant every day. She prefers to feed herself whenever possible and eats 3 big meals of solid foods a day now, plus snacks. She loves the rice cakes that Julia sent over from England for Easter. Thank you so much for the bottle as well. It is very easy for her to hold on her own.

She can sit up like a champ and has even begun moving around a bit, especially when she has stuff to push off of, like Mommy or Daddy's laps. :) She is bound to be crawling very soon. We also think she is teething again as there has been a bit of extra fussing lately and last night was extremely restless. She still loves people and playing with other kids. She also loves being outside and looking around at all the trees and plants around our house.

I think her favorite thing to play with, however, is our cat, Terry. Every time Terry comes in the room, Katelyn focuses all of her attention on her. She pets her whenever she gets within arms reach, sometimes a bit too roughly, but Terry is very good about it. She will walk away when she has had enough but has never retaliated in any way for all the yanks on the ears and tail. And she keeps coming back for more.

Vacation in Maine (Cont.)

Katelyn also got to go swimming for the first time while we were on vacation. She had a great time in the pool with us. We got her a play ring, which is a lot like her exersaucer at home, and she was able to kick around in the water without us having to hold her the whole time. She also got to experience going underwater completely. She didn't seem to mind it but was not completely taken with it, either.

Vacation in Maine

Two weeks ago we took Katelyn to Maine to see her grandparents and meet more of her extended family. This was her first airplane trip and she was wonderful. She was smiling and playful and many of the other passengers commented on how well she behaved. She loved having so many people to look at and interact with.

While in Maine, we spent a lot of time with Memere and Pepere both at their house and at the resort. They were both thrilled to see us and see just how big Katelyn has gotten in the past 6 months. They even babysat for an evening so we could could go to dinner just the two of us. Thank you for that. :)

Katelyn got to see her great-grandmothers for the first time as well. Both were very excited to finally meet her. We took each of them out to lunch and showed them lots of pictures.

7 Month Update

Katelyn is getting so big. She is sitting up very well now, as long as we help her get into that position. She has yet to master getting into a sitting position on her own. She is also able to hold her bottle by herself when drinking it. Eating Cheerios is becoming easier each day. We love to just sit and watch her while she figures out the best position for each Cheerio in her hands befor she puts them into her mouth.

Katelyn is getting to be quite the little chatterbox. Rarely is there a moment when she is not singing or talking to us about this, that and the other thing. She loves the exersaucer and plays with it almost every day. She has become very skilled at pressing the buttons to play the music, which she loves. She also still enjoys her jumper, but is quickly approaching the point where she will be too big to use it. Music is still a must each day.

Katelyn has an extremely outgoing personality. She loves people and smiles at everyone she sees, especially kids. We took her to the duck pond last weekend and while she was checking out the birds in the water, she was much more interested in the bread we were feeding them. She loves sourdough bread, especially the crust.

6 Months and Counting

Katelyn is now 6 months old. She is up to 16 pounds 10 ounces and 27 1/2 inches tall. She got an exersaucer this past weekend and she absolutely loves it. She also still likes being in her jumper. Every time we stand her up in our laps she jumps. :) She still loves music and sings along when we play some, especially Disney, which drives Jeremy crazy.

It appears that Katlyn will have two different colored eyes. Her left is most definitely brown, like ours are, but her right eye is blue-green and doesn't seem to be changing any further. Her birthmark is responding very well to the steroid cream we put on daily. It is much less puffy than it was two months ago. She goes for a check up for that next Friday. We are also happy to report that the MRI/MRA came back normal. Oh, and there is a brain in there, in case you were all curious. :)

She is eating solid foods a lot more now. She has tried squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas so far and really likes the squash and peas. We will be trying a couple fruits this weekend. We are confident that she will gobble those down as well. Her first tooth is now completely in and the second has started to break through as well. It has gotten fairly painful for us when she tries to chew on our fingers, now.
