Oh, What a Year!!

Katelyn has hit the One Year mark, and we couldn't be happier!! She has grown so very much since she was born last August, we can hardly believe she is the same little person we were handed late that night.

We had a party at one of our favorite restaurants and many good friends came to celebrate with us. Katelyn got her very own cake to eat. She was very dainty at first, only putting a finger in the frosting and licking it off. It took about 5 minutes before she really dug into the thing, but when she did, she went all out. Here she is covered completely with pink frosting and loving every minute of it.

She is constantly on the move and always exploring. She enjoys music, cats, and playing with her blocks. Her newest find is Legos and she is working on mastering putting the pieces together so they stick. She has gotten very good at it but gets frustrated when they won't line up for her right away.

Pizza.....Yummmmm

Katelyn had some of my pizza the other day. She seemed to really enjoy it both because she got to eat Mommy's food and she really liked the taste. It did make a bit of a mess, though, and she had to have a bath.

She has gotten a bit too big for the baby tub now and has moved onto the big tub. We got a bumper for it so she can't hit her head on the side of it. We also got a mirror for her because she loves seeing her reflection. She enjoys her baths even more than before now cuz she can move around. And a big plus is most of the water stays in the tub instead of ending up on the floor like it did before. :)

11 Months Update

Katelyn is now 11 months old and learning new tricks everyday. She is going to swim class with Mommy and loves being in the water. She splashes and screeches while we play the games with the other members of the class. She has so much fun in the pool, she hates when it is time to get out.

She got a music set recently, complete with a drum, tambourine, castanets and maracas. She loves to play with them and carries the castanets around the living room. She is even getting the hang of using the drumsticks on the drum, although once in a while she thinks the cat makes a good drum too. ;)

Going to the Zoo

We took Katelyn to the zoo for the first time over the weekend. She spent more time staring at all of the people then she did looking at the animals. She did enjoy the carousel as well as seeing the animals in the petting zoo, as long as they did not get too close. The goats tried to lick her hand and the donkey snorted at her. Both were causes for distress. However, the sheep got the most attention from her because, as I fed them the alfalfa pellets near her in order to get a couple of pictures, she thought I was feeding them her snacks. She proceeded to yell at them and push their heads away fairly forcefully. :)

After the zoo, we went to one of our favorite restaurants, the House of Prime Rib. It was there that Katelyn had what can only be described as the best meal of her life. Anything and everything we put in front of her, she gobbled down like there was no tomorrow. Food on Daddy's plate was much tastier than the food we offered her, too. She had sourdough bread, salad, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, prime rib, and a bit of corn bread with butter for dessert. Her face was coated in potato as she also insisted on feeding herself for the entire meal. :)

Moving Up in the World

Katelyn is moving up in the world, or at least trying to, one step at a time. She has discovered that she can go up stairs to chase the cats. They are less than impressed by this development but Katelyn could not be happier. She is getting more confident every day in her ability to explore her world on her own and this is a big step.

We sit right next to or right behind her as she makes her attempts and she has managed to get partially onto the second step so far. The cats sit about 7 steps up and stare at her disapprovingly as she makes her way toward them. She loves following them around the living room and has even caught up to them a couple of times when they are looking the other way. :)
